MN Homefront WWII Presentation by Michael Eckers

Michael will be speaking about the part Minnesotans played during WWII, as well as, his father’s service in this war as a bombardier in the Mighty Eighth Air Force. His father flew over a dozen missions before being shot down and spending nearly a year as a POW in Germany.

“Colors in the Air” is a novel based on the experiences of his own parents. It tells the story of Dale and Gladdy Weldon who were married for one day before Dale leaves for bombardier training. Plans for a honeymoon in two months are changed by the chaos of war. The book tells how the two both do their parts for freedom during the years of conflict; separated by an ocean, but bound together by their love. A book signing of “Colors in the Air” will follow Eckers presentation. The MN Homefront WWII Exhibit, sponsored by the MN Historical Society is also on display in the museum.

The presentation is in the schoolhouse behind the museum from 1-2 pm on Sunday, July 15th. Admission is a free-will donation. Refreshments provided.
